2021 Ford F-150 | Regina

The Ford F-150 is the company's best-selling truck model of all time, and the latest 14th-generation model has picked up plenty of plaudits in industry tests. We have the new 2021 model available at our Regina dealership, and here are the highlights to look out for.

Design

This model year sees a complete redesign of the F-150, with Ford saying around 90% of the engineering has changed. The fully boxed steel frame has been made stiffer and wider and is clothed in all-aluminum bodywork for lightness and strength. However, despite the extensive redesign, the exterior hasn't strayed too far from the successful F-150 format. The same chunky front end and huge grille remain, as do the relatively boxy lines and angles. There's no shortage of F-150 admirers, so Ford is probably right to keep largely to the tried and tested body design.

Performance

For 2021, Ford F-150 buyers are spoiled for powertrain choice. At the base level, a 3.3L V6 pumps out 290 horsepower and has a towing capacity of close to 3,630kg. At the top end of the power scale, a 5.0L V8 makes a healthy 400hp and raises the towing capacity to 6,350kg. There are plenty of options in between, including a 3.0L diesel V6 for drivers who prefer higher torque to raw horsepower. All of the gas and diesel engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission and a choice between rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. Lastly, there's also a new hybrid powertrain with excellent figures of 430 horsepower and 570lb-ft of torque, plus a driving range of up to 1,130km on a single tank.

Infotainment

The 2021 F-150 boasts impressive infotainment capabilities, with a choice between an 8" or a 12" touchscreen depending on the trim. All systems are equipped with the new Sync 4 software, with features including automatic traffic and weather updates, onboard telemetrics, and over-the-air system upgrades. And of course, features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are either standard or available on higher trims.

Safety

Crash tests haven't yet been performed on the new 2021 model, but safety is strong thanks to standard and available features including lane departure warnings with keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
